Sign up to our TweedWATCH education initiative

We’re encouraging schools to help us create a new generation of river conservationists by signing up to our TweedWATCH education initiative. Hosted by our Education and Engagement Officer, Jenny Holmes, TweedWATCH teaches children about topics such as trees, river wildlife, land and freshwater minibeasts, pebbles, pollinators and pollution.

The sessions are a great way for the children to learn teamwork and communication skills, as well as an appreciation of the importance of protecting the river environment. Jenny also delivers Wellbeing in Nature sessions in recognition of the benefits of outdoor learning to emotional and mental health.

Engaging with the river environment is hugely beneficial for children and we hope that the sessions will also encourage a desire to protect the Tweed and its surrounding landscape long into the future.

TweedWATCH is an important element of the £25 million Destination Tweed initiative and is funded by the Fallago Environment Fund, The National Lottery Heritage Fund, EU LIFE Wader and Northumbrian Water.

Bookings are now being taken for the 2024/25 school year. For further details, please email jenny.holmes@tweedforum.org or call us on 01896 849723.
