Berwick
I was born in Castle Hills, overlooking the Tweed 😊
Kelso
Got married by the Tweed here (views of the Tweed)
Coldstream
I remember many days pushing a pushchair along the side of the river, walking the dogs and playing with the kids
Union Chain Bridge
Jumping from the bridge – road or top! Sunbathing on top of pedestal.
Melrose to Berwick
When I die, I want my ashes put in the Tweed at Melrose so they can float down the river!
These stories were collected at a Tweed Stories event held as part of Berwick Heritage Open Days in September 2026. With thanks to the HODs team and everyone who attended. Find out more about Berwick’s history at www.berwickfriends.org.uk and northumberlandarchives.com/berwick/.
