Tweed Valley forest adventures

Tweed Valley forest adventures

Rally in the valley
I have very many happy memories of marshalling on motor rallies in the Tweed Valley Forests in the 1980s. Hot and dusty!

A welcoming community
Had a lovely hike in Cardrona forest, but the bus back to Edinburgh was cancelled for hours due to an accident. I ended up walking all the way back to Peebles, meeting friendly locals along the way and coming across Eshiels Community Wood, which I hope to return to when it grows! These stories were collected at a Tweed Stories event held as part of Berwick Heritage Open Days in September 2026. With thanks to the HODs team and everyone who attended. Find out more about Berwick’s history at www.berwickfriends.org.uk and northumberlandarchives.com/berwick/.
