We very often walked along the Tweed at Peebles, through the park and over the footbridge. We would then walk along the old railway line and through the tunnel.
Due to a bend in the tunnel, you couldn’t see the other end and it was pitch black. We used to have a stick to rub along the wall to keep in a straight line.
We returned from the other end, via the riverbank with Neidpath Castle towering above.
