Join the Uncovering the Tweed and Borders Forest Trust teams for a walk around the BFT sites Talla and Gameshope. We will meet in Tweedsmuir to coordinate car sharing, talk through the archaeology in the wider landscape and then proceed to Talla Reservoir parking where the walk will start. The walk is on the BFT site Talla and Gameshope and the intended route will progress from Talla Linnfoots up a rough landrover track along the Gameshope Burn to the post-medieval ruins of enclosures and shepherds huts. We will return by the same track to the vehicles. On the walk we will discuss the human activity and changes in landuse at Gameshope over time. Several post-medieval sites will be visible on route related to the use of the land for sheep farming.

The route is described as moderate to strenuous, covering a distance of approximately 5km and including 125m ascent and descent with a potential stream crossing. At times the route could be off the path and progress will be over steep and rough ground. It is anticipated the walk will take c. 2.5 hours with a return to vehicles at around 2pm latest.

Further information on where to meet and what to bring will be sent out to booked participants nearer the time.

*In the event of extreme weather the event may be cancelled if there are safety concerns.
