Join the Uncovering the Tweed and Borders Forest Trust teams for a walk around the BFT site at Corehead, Moffat. We will meet outside the Moffat Town Hall to travel together to the start of the walk in taxis. The walk is on the BFT site at Corehead and Ericstane and the intended route will progress past several archaeological sites including the recently excavated scooped settlement at Adies Brae. On the walk we will discuss the human activity and changes in landuse at Corehead over time, including Bronze and Iron age prehistoric settlements, Roman activity and how Reivers, Covenanters and farmers have shaped the landscape we see today.
The route is described as moderate to strenuous and at times the route could be off the path and progress will be over steep and rough ground. It is anticipated the walk will take c. 5 hours with a return to vehicles at around 4pm latest.
Further information on where to meet and what to bring will be sent out to booked participants nearer the time.
*In the event of extreme weather the event may be cancelled if there are safety concerns.
