As part of the programme of events for Uncovering the Tweed, AOC Archaeology Group will be holding a skills training day at Kirkhope, Manor Valley, south of Peebles.
The site visit will focus on recording the collection of carved stones on site, including the base of a 10th century cross. Recording will include written records, detailed photography and photogrammetry. Weather-permitting, we will also be doing GPS and UAV survey.
Full training will be given on the day, no experience necessary.
The site is in an upland location involving a 1.2km walk up a hill path so participants are advised to wear sturdy boots and waterproofs. Details on where to meet in Peebles to carshare to site will be sent out to booked participants nearer the time.
