Mapping Workshop (Online)

Join us online for an Uncovering the Tweed Mapping Workshop where we’ll explore the fascinating world of historic maps together!

Join us for an exciting **online** event where we will dive into the world of historic mapping and online research looking at the landscape around St Cuthbert’s Chapel by the Tweed. No experience required, this workshop is perfect for anyone interested in learning more about historic mapping and its role in archaeological research.

Join members of AOC’s consultancy team to learn how to read historic maps, research archaeological sites and landscapes and investigate the past from the comfort of your own desk.

The workshop will include an introductory talk on the available resources and how to use them using examples from the Lower Tweed relating to the St Cuthberts landscape project. Followed by a practical exercise where you can have a go at your own investigation. You can either attend planning to investigate your own area of interest or just follow along as the workshop facilitator demonstrates the use of each online resource so you know how to use them in the future. The workshop is aimed at people interested in finding out more about the Tweed and the historic landscape it runs through and/or those hoping to develop their research skills using online resources.

Participants will need to be able to join remotely via a stable internet connection and access an internet browser. If you would like to take part in the practical exercises, a laptop/desktop with mouse is recommended (rather than a tablet or smartphone). We will send out more information nearer the time.
