Join Borders Forest Trust and Connecting Threads amongst the hills at Corehead for an intimate, acoustic performance by Jemima Thewes.
Jemima Thewes is a singer and songwriter rooted in folk, shaped by a distinctive experimental edge. Known for her haunting interpretations of ancient ballads alongside original compositions, her work blends intimacy with a stark, elemental intensity.
Her debut album received 4 stars from Songlines magazine, which described it as “dark and arresting…almost numinous,” marking her out as a compelling new voice in contemporary folk. Praised by Rosanne Cash as “a beautiful voice, with a great, original style,” Jemima’s music moves between darkness, irony, and flashes of joy, carried by an undertone of warmth and light. Her work draws listeners into a sound world that feels at once timeless and quietly uncanny.
