As part of Connecting Threads river-wide creative project Being a River, there is the opportunity to attend a series of five creative workshops exploring art, place, colour and connection in and around the riverside environment of Berwick-upon-Tweed.
These free, welcoming workshops are designed to support wellbeing through creativity, nature and connection. No previous art experience is needed, and all materials are provided.
Over five Monday afternoons, participants will explore simple creative activities inspired by the river and surrounding landscape, including natural drawing, colour gathering, mindful observation and gentle walks. Sessions focus on curiosity, creativity and enjoyment, with time for conversation, reflection and a cup of tea.
Together, participants will transform the colours, words and patterns collected throughout the workshops into a woven paper artwork, before creating a unique handmade cushion to take home. Along the way, they’ll discover new ways to connect with nature, express themselves creatively and find moments of calm.
The workshops take place on Mondays from 2.00–4.30pm between July and September and are led by Berwick-based artist and writer, Anna Chapman Parker.
