EVENT FULL
Join Borders Forest Trust for an exciting weekend camping at Talla Barn and planting at Carlavin Hill.
Over the weekend of the 3rd & 4th May 2025 volunteers will have the opportunity to help revitalise the landscape planting montane scrub (dwarf birch and downy willow). Montane scrub is a form of high-altitude tree-line woodland. The habitat occurs at the very highest limits of woodland growth and consists of low, stunted and dwarfed sprcies of trees, shrubs, dwarf -shrubs and alpine wild flowers. It would have once formed a vital part of the ecosystem in the hills of Scotland.
Volunteers will need to provide their own transport to site for these weekends and will need to be entirely self-sufficient for equipment and food for the weekend – so you will need your own tent, sleeping bag, camping stove etc. Planting weekends are strenuous work and will require volunteers to have a good level of fitness.
Please let us know if you would like to book a place by emailing Adrian at volunteer@bordersforesttrust.org.
